Zoom on: the MES.

What is MES?

The Manufacturing Execution System, or real-time production monitoring, is a computer tool that enables the exact collection and transmission, in real time, of production data from a part or all of the equipment of a factory. In addition to an automated real-time production monitoring, the various data collected allow the analysis of different production sub-activities, such as traceability, genealogy, and quality control.

The MES Quartis makes it possible to convert data into powerful indicators such as the rate of charge, quality, performance, strategic rate, operational availability, overall rate of return, or the synthetic rate of return, based on the rules. standard calculations.

But concretely, how is this beneficial for my company?

Initially, the implementation of a MES solution allows an exact collection, as well as an automated transmission of production data in real time. This tool allows: quick access to accurate and relevant data (saving time and comfort), optimization of employee time (eliminating lost search time and information capture, but also reallocation of time certain employees who were allocated to these different tasks), a centralized and real-time view of the production (gain of comfort and time), a comfort of use for the collaborators (no more unnecessary trips to search for information), and more internal communication problems.

The true strength of the MES lies in the reading and interpretation that the various operational managers will make available indicators. Indeed, thanks to the good interpretation of these indicators, and the actions carried out in consequence, each machine of the factory will be profitable to its best performance. Eventually, production becomes much more efficient (more productive, but without increasing production capacity). It is therefore possible to observe increasing scale returns (or economies of scale); that is to say a decrease in production costs, for a similar production capacity.
